the mere mention of that infamous malay blood sucking female vampire ~pontianak~ could send multiple shivers down anyone’s spine. that includes me, most definitely. i’d sleep with the lights on and earphones of my mp3 player stuck into my ears. of course, with husband’s presence, all lights out!.
anyway, i’m not writing about that wretched ghost. we have just got back from our raya trip to Pontian in Johor Bahru, visiting husband’s maternal grand uncle, Tok Hamzah.
Tok Hamzah had visitors playing with fire crackers. read: FIRE CRACKERS, not sparklers, okay? we were inside, chatting and eating, when a loud POM! startled us. that was when we realised, someone was playing with the banned explosives (in Singapore). turned out the visitors were Singaporeans. so it’s only understandable that they wanted to let off their steam! hoo hoo. and with that, no pictures were taken. i didn’t dare stepping out of the porch to even watch them play, about 5 crackers.
the little preemie had endless fun looking for chickens, while in daddy’s arms, and kok-kok-kok-ing with the feathered friends. she couldn’t be bothered about the scorching sun! i, on the other hand, retreated for a shade in the house after snapping 2 photos of both father and daughter. i couldn’t bear the heat and afraid that i might melt.
and it was payback time for me!!! everyone was chatting and getting ready for lunch while i had a good nap. not that i didn’t want to lend a hand. there were just too many sleeps that had been sacrificed, it was only fair that i got them back.
